We believe that healthy soil means healthy animals and healthy humans.

We have cattle and sheep on the farm, as well as a few pigs. 

Our focus is on traditional native British breeds, chosen for their suitability for the land and the high quality of their meat.

Our pedigree animals are sold for breeding and those that aren't are extensively reared on grassland to produce great tasting, tender organic meat. We are always on the lookout to supply local butchers and restaurants so please get in touch if you're interested.

Our pedigree Beef Shorthorn suckler herd was established in 1994. We are members of the Premium Cattle Health Scheme, are BVD, Johnes and IBR accredited, and we are in a four year TB testing area. We select for mothering ability as well as carcass quality to produce an all round animal that does well off grass. 

We also have a small herd of British Whites, who with their black noses and ears are one of Britain's most distinctive and oldest breeds. They herald from East Anglia and so are uniquely suited to our land.

our hardy Herdwicks are a  Cumbrian breed, known for their slow growing flavoursome meat. We use them for grazing the wetter areas around the Estate, as they are used to rougher climates. 

we keep a small flock of Coloured Ryelands,  who aside from their cute looks are known for doing very well off grass and for producing excellent quality, great tasting meat.

We keep a small number of Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, who spend their summers in the woodland.

Oxford Sandy and Blacks are one of Britain's oldest pig breeds. despite nearly reaching extinction twice they are now gaining in popularity due to their docile nature, hardiness and of course, their succulent meat.
